Our company owner, architect, project managers and crews all believe in “green.”

Peter Taggart
Peter Taggart is the owner/president of Taggart Construction, Taggart Realty and Freeport Woodworking. In 1994, Peter listed his goals for the company, “to become a premier builder, renovator and creator of healthy built environments” and “to develop, practice and promote sustainable methods of building design and construction.” After 14 years leading Taggart Construction and 30+ years in general contracting, architectural woodworking and historic restoration, these goals remain the same.

Continually giving his time and sharing his expertise, Peter has been a member and leader of these organizations:

  • 2008 Chair of the Maine Chapter of the USGBC (U.S. Green Building Council) and a founding member.
  • Board Member 1998-2006 and Chair of NESEA 2002-2004 (Northeast Sustainable Energy Association) that promotes clean electricity, green transportation and energy efficiency.
  • President 2007-2008 and Board Member 2000-2008 of BME (Maine Housing & Building Materials Exchange), a non-profit providing new and re-used building materials to lower income families at an affordable price.
  • Board Member 2003-2006 of MEBSR (Maine Business for Social Responsibility), an organization working to teach companies how to lessen their environmental impact, treat their employees with respect and fairness, and give back to the community.
  • USGBC Regional Council Member and 2006-2008 Residential Green Building Advocate, working with LEED Providers and industry professionals locally and nationally to explain and promote the LEED program, identify green building leaders and provide feedback to the U.S. Green Building Council.
  • Guest speaker at numerous conferences including the 2007 National USGBC Annual Green Build Conference, Maine Indoor Air Quality Conference, American Solar Energy Conference and NESEA Conference.
Peter Taggart works with dedication and integrity creating healthy buildings, and promoting high performance, energy efficiency and sustainability. According to architect, Lynn Shaffer of Cape Elizabeth, Maine, Peter is “the go-to person for sustainable design. He’s a leader; he’s a person we turn to with our questions.”

Kevin Moquin
Kevin Moquin, AIA, LEED AP, is a Maine Licensed Architect. He received his BARCH with high honors from Wentworth Institute of Technology, Boston, MA. Kevin came to Taggart Construction in 2007 after 10 years of honing his design skills and gaining knowledge and experience at prominent architectural firms in Portland, Maine and western Massachusetts. His passion for the environment and sustainable, high performance building practices make him a great match for Taggart Construction.

When Kevin is not working or busy pursuing his interest in photography, he takes the time to participate as a member of the following professional organizations:

Claire Betze
Claire Betze, P.E. is the senior project manager at Taggart Construction. While managing a current project, one client emailed, "I've been meaning to mention that we feel Claire has been a stellar Project Manager. She has shown unending patience and professionalism in handling the many details of our project(s)."

  • Twenty plus years experience in project management and design and construction of projects ranging from large civil engineering designs to residential homes
  • 2006 Graduate of the North Bennet Street School Preservation Carpentry program
  • Experience in the restoration of structures as well as an in-depth knowledge of new construction building systems
  • BS in Civil Engineering
From developing and managing the scope, schedule and budget for custom built homes, renovations and restorations to effectively communicating with homeowners, subcontractors, suppliers and regulatory officials, Claire has the experience and background to handle any project. She will lead the team that will build your home, listening and responding to your requests and questions all along the way. Her steady, reassuring manner creates an atmosphere where everyone wants to do their best.

Chris Boyd
Chris Boyd, EIT is the estimator/project planner for Taggart Construction. To sum up his role on the Taggart team, Chris stated, “I’m the building science, and cost and efficiency guy.”

  • Seven years experience in estimating and project management of residential, commercial and institutional construction
  • Twenty total years of experience in the construction industry with a comprehensive knowledge of the intricacies involved in pricing and planning of projects
  • BS in Civil Engineering from Rose-Hulman Instiitute of Technology in Terre Haute, Indiana
With his engineering background and acquired knowledge from years of researching the best materials available, Chris will evaluate tried-and-true materials and research the newest cutting-edge products to ensure your project will be built with the “right” material for your needs. As a member of the design/build team, Chris’ goal is to be sure there will be no surprises during the construction process.

David Neujahr
David Neujahr is the project manager for Taggart Construction focusing on residential renovations and remodeling. David is the son of a general contractor and has been involved in construction his whole life.

  • More than 20 years experience as a client-focused construction professional with a unique blend of construction management, communication skills and carpentry expertise
  • Owned Neujahr Remodeling, a Minnesota-based construction company
  • Certified Remodeler through Minnesota Chapter of NARI (The National Association of the Remodeling Industry)
David built a reputation in Minnesota for surpassing clients’ expectations and creating a company culture where employees wanted to come to work each day. It is his mission to maintain clear and constant communication with each client throughout the construction process and to ensure satisfaction. He brings these skills and his commitment to excellence to Taggart Construction.
